WHAT IS THE JOB YOU DO AT EIGHT ROADS?
My job is to manage day-to-day HR matters and provide support to the Eight Roads teams in multiple regions, especially China and Japan. Due to the uniqueness of our platform, I also work closely with early stage portfolio companies, providing HR advice and helping them build HR infrastructure from scratch.
LOOKING BACK, WHAT’S BEEN THE STEEPEST LEARNING CURVE ON YOUR CAREER JOURNEY SO FAR?
Learning has never ceased on a daily basis throughout my career. The steepest learning experience typically involves creative thinking and devising solutions for complex situations when a multitude of competing demands are at play which are often beyond HR domain expertise.
IF YOU COULD GIVE ONE PIECE OF ADVICE TO YOUR 20-YEAR-OLD SELF WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Never stop learning.
HOW DO YOU DIRECTLY SUPPORT OUR ENTREPRENEURS/PRINCIPAL INVESTMENTS/PORTFOLIO COMPANIES? CAN YOU GIVE AN EXAMPLE?
Recently we developed a well-balanced compensation and benefits strategy for one of our start-ups in the healthcare industry, which placed the company in a driving position in both China and the US for attracting top talent in a highly competitive global market. This was based on our understanding of the business model, long term strategy, product type, market position, competitive landscape, and global talent pool. Having the opportunity to engage in strategic partnership with some of the best minds in the industry makes my job extremely exciting and fulfilling.
