What is the job you do at Eight Roads? Can you briefly describe a day in your life at work?
My job involves a diverse range of matters – from advising the investment team members in their investments in companies and exits from existing portfolio companies to ensuring that the portfolio companies expand their business keeping in mind the interests of Eight Roads. Each day is a brand-new day; and there is no room for monotony.
Looking back, what’s been the steepest learning curve on your career journey so far?
Undoubtedly, it is my transition from being a lawyer at a law firm to now being an in-house lawyer at a VC. There’s a paradigm shift in the way I approach issues and analyse risks – that the goal is not to lock horns with the opposite counsel to secure the client’s interest, it is rather to enable the client to foster a long-term strategic relationship with the portfolio. I am excited to be a part of this big picture.
If you could give one piece of advice to your 20-year-old self what would it be?
You are the sum of your experiences. Be kind and patient with yourself on the journey.
How do you directly support our entrepreneurs/principal investments/portfolio companies?
Interactions with portfolio companies primarily involve the finalising of documentation for our investments or exits. In certain cases, we also advise portfolio companies on corporate governance matters and the restructuring of their business operations in lieu of any business expansions.
