Maria has over 25 years of experience in leading roles within the tech sector, across both B2B and B2C, mostly with rapid growth companies driving digital disruption.
What’s been the steepest learning curve on your career journey so far?
My first CFO role of a publicly listed IT-company back in the year 2000 just when the dot.com era came to a screeching halt. I had just turned 30 years old and had to make pennies last a long way, renegotiation with banks, fundraising under very difficult circumstances and launching multiple redundancy programs while having limited experience from such situations.
Which global tech trend are you most excited about at the moment and why?
ChatGPT and other similar AI technology. It will be very interesting to see how it can be put to use across industries while also manage any backside effects to ensure the impact will be positive to our society.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
A former boss of mine said: Always think about consequences, pros and cons, of decisions you are about to take as if you will stay with that company for the rest of your career, even if chances are that you will not. It is about having the business’ long-term best interest at heart, not just the next quarter earnings.
