What is the job you do at Eight Roads? Can you briefly describe a day in your life at work?

I am responsible for overseeing all legal matters for Eight Roads in Japan.  I work on investment transactions closely with the business team and address legal issues for our portfolio companies. 

Looking back, what’s been the steepest learning curve on your career journey so far?

Solving issues and problems within a short time frame despite the fact that I had little experience in them. My working experience at different law firms provided me the opportunities to learn the importance of imagination, credibility and responsiveness. I believe that difficult situations provide us the chance to grow professionally and personally.

If you could give one piece of advice to your 20-year-old self what would it be?

Continuous effort is the key element to grow yourself and achieve your full potential. Be brave. Mistakes help you grow.

How do you directly support our entrepreneurs and portfolio companies? Can you provide an example?

Providing legal advice and support in all relevant areas, including investment, realization and deal-making. For example, I am helping portfolio companies to do fundraising. I believe we should be nurturing relationships with all stakeholders and work closely with them.
