What is the job you do at Eight Roads? Can you briefly describe a day in your life at work? e.g. what sort of projects are you working on?

I am helping start-ups we invested in any possible way. Principal investment like Delta Health will be my long-term focus, but I am also working with other portfolios.

Looking back, what’s been the steepest learning curve on your career journey so far?

The one I am currently going through. Two concurrent role changes from secondary to primary market and from equity analyst to venture capitalist almost mean a complete change of the thinking and acting ways I grew accustomed to during my past career. Being creativity or innovative, either in technology or B-model, is the critical characteristic we are looking for in start-ups, but it’s not a bit less so for ourselves if we want to prosper in this industry. Put yourself out there, think out of the box and embrace the risk!

If you could give one piece of advice to your 20-year-old self what would it be?

Invest in Alibaba and Tencent.

How do you directly support our entrepreneurs/principal investments/portfolio companies? Can you give an example?

I will be more involved in our principal investment in a sense of directly contributing to strategies making, operational improving, people recruiting and etc. For most other portfolio companies, I am helping in a relatively indirect way such as fundraising.
