What motivates you?
Working with fun, committed and interesting people who wear their intellect lightly.
What do you like about your job?
Being part of the Venture Capital world allows us to make decisions that have a big impact, particularly in the healthcare, technology and FinTech sectors. I enjoy learning about the challenges that start-ups and early-stage companies seek to solve and the opportunities for growth they provide. As investors, we are able to strengthen and develop the ecosystem by disrupting the traditional ways of doing business.
What’s been the steepest learning curve of your career so far?
Within the first three months of joining Eight Roads, I became involved with the DeltaHealth hospital project in Shanghai. I had to learn quickly how the hospital and clinic operated in order to help analyse and review the financials, which were crucial in determining the valuations of DeltaHealth in its recent fundraising round.
How would you describe the culture and team and Eight Roads?
The culture in China is often hierarchical, but at Eight Roads the senior management team is accessible and embraces an open culture and an entrepreneurial spirit. Our team is creative, innovative, quick and goal-orientated. Each individual is encouraged to speak their mind and share ideas.
If you could give one piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?
Be bold, learn to be more intuitive and in-tune with yourself.
