Arvind joined Eight Roads as an Associate in the Mumbai office after spending time as the founder and CEO of his own start-up. He has prior experience in management consulting and private equity.

What motivates you?

The excitement and sense of achievement that comes from identifying companies with game changing propositions, and then working with them to unlock their potential.

What’s been the steepest learning curve on your career journey so far?

Learning to look beyond sales pitches and personal bias to take an objective and open-minded approach to evaluating every opportunity.

Which technology trend in India are you most excited about at the moment and why?

Innovations in the lab diagnostics space both in terms of reducing the costs and batch sizes for smaller labs, and in introducing more comprehensive testing technologies for larger labs. This could have a fundamental impact on patient outcomes.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Learn from past experiences but always keep an open mind. Even the most attractive opportunities may not initially appear that way.

What is the company you wish you’d backed and why?

Throughout corporate history there have been a few extraordinarily productive time periods where industry defining companies have been formed. For example, it would have been an incredible experience to be an investor in the late 1970s backing tech companies like Apple and Microsoft or Genentech in the biotech space.
