Over a decade in the making, DeltaHealth's 50,000 square metre dedicated cardio-vascular space includes a 20-bed cardiac care unit, an 18-bed intensive care unit, seven operating theatres, two cardiac catheterisation laboratories and two hybrid operating rooms.
Cardiovascular disease is a massive problem globally and its incidence in China is growing at an alarming rate. DeltaHealth boasts a unique partnership with Columbia HeartSource in the US, bringing together the best clinical care from both outside and inside China. The opening ceremony began with a medical symposium followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony and a traditional lion dance. Cyrus Jilla, President of Eight Roads, Daniel Auerbach, Senior Partner at Eight Roads and Chair of DeltaHealth, Desmond Thio, CEO of DeltaHealth, and DeltaHealth President & Chief Medical Officer, Professor Sun, each painted eyes onto four lions, symbolically bringing each to life.
In his speech, Daniel said: "China deserves best-of-breed healthcare. Our partnership with China's healthcare services blueprint can help transform the future into one which offers the highest standards of care and modalities of delivery that will be shared across the entire ecosystem dedicated to helping patients with their health concerns. This story is only starting to unfold and we at Delta have the privilege of helping it take flight."
The opening of the hospital confirms Eight Roads as one of the most active healthcare investors in China, backing healthcare companies in biopharmaceutical development, therapeutics, drug discovery and healthcare services.
