Venture Partner, Talent & Organisation
Takashi joined Eight Roads to advise our portfolio companies and the Tokyo-based Ventures team on talent and organisational strategy.

What motivates you?

Inspiring others, including and especially entrepreneurs, to achieve great things and be part of nurturing wise leaders to better the world of business and society.

What’s been the steepest learning curve on your career journey so far?

Every three to six years, I’ve made career transition, and had steep learning curves each time. To name one, co-founding a search firm from scratch earlier in my career was a tough challenge where I learned the importance of being resilient, and persevering to keep a company afloat!

Which tech trend are you most excited about at the moment and why?

Edutech and HR Tech. The innovation in both areas is fascinating and exciting but I believe face-to-face communication is still critical to motivate and inspire people. I am interested in finding firms/services that best blend technology and human touch to maximise impact in education and talent management/development.

If you could give a piece of advice to your 20-year-old self, what would it be?

Be more curious and try many new things to broaden your perspective as much as possible.

What is the company you wish you’d backed and why?

Google. It has so much impact in our daily lives and will continue to evolve to influence our society (hopefully all for the better).
