What’s been the steepest learning curve on your career journey so far?
I was lucky enough to get into the VC world very early on in my career, getting to interact with entrepreneurs as a 22-year-old, trying to ask the right questions and subsequently build as well as articulate an educated opinion has been a humbling, challenging and rewarding experience in equal measures.
Which Europe or global tech trend are you most excited about at the moment and why?
The rise of computing at the edge. As the amount of data computed grows at a geometrical rate in conjuncture with the increasing need for lower latency (e.g. IoT, autonomous vehicles, …), edge computing will play an infrastructural role in tomorrow’s applications
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Don’t waste time comparing yourself to others. There is no such thing as a “normal” path - opportunities come in different shapes, colours and at different stages.
What is the company you wish you’d backed and why?
Docker – while there are a number of successful software companies out there, very few have a paradigm shift underlying their product, Docker’s container effectively changed how application development is done in addition to catalyse the emergence of DevOps culture
