What do you like about your job?

I feel very fortunate to be able to meet inspiring entrepreneurs every day. They aim high, they take a lot of risk and ultimately they are the ones building our society’s future. I have an immense respect for them.

What’s been the steepest learning curve of your career so far?

I have had to learn patience. While it is good to have a sense of urgency and be eager to succeed, scaling up a company takes time. Similarly, developing a true relationship with an entrepreneur can take years. In the end, patience pays off.

What current technology trend do you get most excited about and why?

The start-up community in Europe has never been so active. It is no longer necessary to go to Silicon Valley to create a company with global ambitions. I am confident that we will start seeing more global leaders coming from Stockholm, Berlin and Paris.

Which sector or sub-sector do you focus on?

Software and next generation financial services businesses.

If you could only give one piece of advice to an up and coming entrepreneur, what would it be?

There is an influx of capital in the market now, but not every investor is the same. Choosing the right investor to bring on board is a critical step. The likelihood is you will work together for many years so ask yourself how the relationship will develop. And most importantly, choose someone you can trust.

The company you wish you’d backed, and why?

Adyen - Pieter van der Does and his team have done an incredible job of disrupting the world of online payments.
