What’s been the steepest learning curve on your career journey so far?

Moving with my family to New York to set up Zendesk’s East Coast office. There was no playbook for how to arrive in a city, rent an office, hire a team, find the kids a school, navigate the Manhattan real estate jungle and maintain everyone’s sanity!

Which tech trend are you most excited about at the moment and why? 

I’m fascinated and a little bit terrified about the difference that 5G, Edge processing and IoT will bring to our lives. It feels like the beginning of something that that will dramatically change us in ways we haven’t yet foreseen.

If you could give a piece of advice to your 20 year old self, what would it be?

Age doesn’t necessarily bring wisdom – be wary of too much advice! That said, trust your instincts, ask great questions and jump in a cold lake whenever you get the chance.

What is the company you wish you’d backed and why?

JustEat: a great idea to create a new category, executed at pace with good use of software to scale sales and operations, brilliant marketing, timely acquisitions and a journey from IPO to FTSE 100. And nice people too!
