Medvivo, the health and care services provider that sits within the Eight Roads Principal Investments portfolio has announced the acquisition of Expert 24, a global developer of customised clinical decision support applications.
The funding for the deal and potential future investment is provided by Eight Roads, which first invested in Medvivo in 2012.
Founded in 2001, with operations in the UK and United States, Expert 24 provides customised, trusted algorithms for some of the world’s largest healthcare providers, insurers and health information platforms including BUPA, AXA PPP Healthcare, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and WebMD. Expert 24’s proprietary technology refines and integrates the most complex clinical algorithms and assessments to help its clients tackle acute and primary care challenges, and manage chronic conditions. Its population health and personal health risk management product helps providers to assess and better understand macro health risks as well as providing insights that can encourage individuals to change behaviours towards managing their health and wellbeing.
Andrew Gardner, CEO of Medvivo said: “Effective, patient-centric healthcare services rely on innovations that unlock efficiencies and plug skills shortages while empowering the people that use them. To help meet this need, Medvivo is working to become the UK’s number one provider of digital healthcare products and services. Bringing such a successful and complementary operation as Expert 24 into our stable will deepen our offering, extend our reach internationally, and strengthen our ambition to improve the accessibility, quality, and cost-effectiveness of healthcare services.”
The acquisition strengthens Medvivo’s range of clinical technology products and services built up over the past 11 years; and will support Expert 24’s continued growth throughout the US, UK and Europe. The expansion will also provide job opportunities for UK-based developers seeking to pursue careers in creating cutting-edge digital solutions that improve essential health-care services.
Dr Marci Thiel, founder and CEO, Expert 24 commented: “For over 15 years, Expert 24 has provided outstanding clinical decision support applications to help our clients positively change the way that healthcare is delivered. Whether working with insurers, primary care providers, hospitals or health portals, Expert 24 has consistently helped to reduce costs, improve the scalability of services, increase capacity and ultimately improve patient health outcomes. We look forward to our next stage of international growth, supported by Medvivo.”
