WHAT’S BEEN THE STEEPEST LEARNING CURVE ON YOUR CAREER JOURNEY SO FAR?

Apart from entering the world of venture, which really demands you to constantly expand your horizons and skillsets, it would have to be when I started as an analyst in Investment Banking. Although internships prepared me to a certain degree there were high expectations from day one. Being an intense working environment, with heavy workloads, I quickly learnt about dealing with pressure, prioritisation, and boundaries.

WHICH EUROPE OR GLOBAL TECH TREND ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT AT THE MOMENT AND WHY?

The whirlwind that has been covid-19 has driven a lot of change within the technology sector, some in line with expectations, and some unexpected.

We’ve seen marketplaces both struggle and thrive in the pandemic, category dependent. But ultimately, the long-term fundamentals driving the proliferation of the model will remain in the long-term. I believe marketplaces have the power to open up what might be considered a more “niche category”, which combined with strong network effects, can be really powerful.

WHAT’S THE BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU’VE EVER RECEIVED?

A mentor of mine always says “be the driver of your own bus” – which I think can serve as an important reminder to trust in yourself, that you have control, and that you can get to where you want if you set your mind to it.
