Eight Roads & Hibob Talent Event in London

For the launch of our 'Young Generation in Tech' report, we hosted a panel discussion to debate how the European tech ecosystem can best support young workers who are the future of our industry. Check out the highlights in the video below.

Following the introductory remarks from Davor Hebel, Managing Partner Eight Roads Ventures Europe, the findings of the report were presented by Ze'ev Rozov (COO Hibob), James Hurley (The Times), Verity Raphael (Siteimprove) and Elizabeth Scott (Tech Nation).

Why did we host the survey?

  • For many years, the tech industry has faced talent shortages and the focus has been on how to attract the best and the brightest to their companies

  • Following two years of the pandemic, and the aftershocks of ‘The Great Resignation’, together with our portfolio company Hibob, the global HR-tech platform, we wanted to take a temperature of the Gen Z and Millennial cohort of tech workers - a vital foundation for the future of tech

  • We surveyed 2,005 20-30-year-olds across Europe to understand their motivations, what they’re looking for from their roles and their expectations for the future at work. Countries included the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, France, Spain

  • Our survey reveals that the young generation is expressing disappointment with their experiences

  • The report looks at the knock-on effects of changing working patterns, the need for job security in turbulent times and the rise of hybrid and remote working on young people’s views of their workplace
