What motivates you?
The everyday challenges that the law poses. There are times when we are faced with a situation which nobody has encountered before. At the beginning, we do not always know how to find a resolution, but we inevitably do and it’s that problem-solving element of my work which motivates me the most.
What’s been the steepest learning curve of your career so far?
Working at Eight Roads is the first time I have dealt so closely with legal issues from a commercial perspective. As an in-house counsel, I see the whole life cycle of a transaction and that provides a highly nuanced understanding of business as well as a better appreciation of the needs of a multitude of stakeholders.
How would you describe the culture at Eight Roads?
The culture is quite relaxed, despite the fact that we are very busy and do serious business. Coming from a law firm environment, this has been a big change for me.
If you could give one piece of advice to your 20-year-old self, what would it be?
Don’t worry – things turn out just fine.
