What motivates you?
The opportunity to work on a variety of challenging problems and seeing them come to fruition motivates me - be it a new investment opportunity or a problem statement I aided a portfolio company with.
What’s been the steepest learning curve on your career journey so far?
My steepest learning curve has been working with multiple governments in India on high-priority projects, including helping set up India’s Covid War Room with the Central Government in 2020. Through these experiences, I learnt the importance of approaching problems from a first principles perspective (for there were very limited learnings to leverage from a previous pandemic), the importance of being composed, yet agile in evolving crisis situations and appreciating the need to work with multifaceted stakeholders to collectively deliver the right solution.
Which healthcare trend are you most excited about at the moment and why?
I am excited about the use of AI and its impact on the healthcare value chain for providers, payers, pharma companies and end users. However it will be important to use AI with care after granular consideration of its implications and limitations.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
The best piece of advice I have received was that one’s comfort zone is a space confined by two walls that gradually close in. If you don’t actively challenge these boundaries, your chances for meaningful growth will diminish. Embracing discomfort and taking calculated risks are crucial for both personal and professional development, even when the easier or more convenient path is continuing with the status quo.
